Default Batteries ???

Is anyone besides me, with rear mounted batteries in a 28 Skater having problems? I have lost 2 sets of alts in my boat. i don't find anything wrong, dirty, loose, connections etc. The original alts ran for years. Coming in one afternoon, in some fairly rough water, I had both quit charging. replaced with new. 6 months later, long hard run, the new alts died. I am thinking plates in batteries shorting
because of the pounding they take? Anybody have similar problems?
2) 300 Promax's > Delco wet cell batteries about a year old.

I used to have the batteries mounted on the front side of the farthest bulkhead.Never had any problems with my 2.5`s or batteries, and I run in the rough alot!I recently mounted them in the back because the long 2ga cables would not start the 3.2 300xs. I have run about 27hrs, 22 of wich were in the ocean. No problems.
