I agree with Zero, Back in my tournament skiing days we would sand the bottoms of our skis with 80 grit to produce better laminar flow which lowered the coefficient of friction on the ski. Even the oil from suntan lotion or the teak oil from the ski platforms negatively effected the ski performance. This is know as the "Reynolds" number. It was really noticeable when sanded vs. a dirty ski. Some skis were produced with a grain pattern to replicate the sanding texture. Sanding in the direction of water flow is the key.

My gearcases are box-stock, never done anything other than spray them with WD-40 and wipe them down. When it does come time that they need some cleaning up, I just use an orbital palm sander. This just takes off any ugly stains and leaves a clean circular-sanded finish on the gearcase/skeg. I do the same thing on the skegs on my Arneson drives - we intentionally leave the skeg raw aluminum to keep the skegs as thin as possible (no powdercoat layer) and to easily keep them looking good.

Very Nice NP. Are you able to fully tilt the motors? I assume you are using 33c style cable?

Yessir, it looks tighter than it is, the cable @ the deck is close but is able to take the tilt angle.

My steering hoses on the other hand ................... I can tilt high enough to put the boat on the beach and not touch the skegs by several inches.
