28 Skater
I have always been a fan of the 28. A few years back we purchased one and did a complete refit on it. With the 300x’s it runs like a scalded dog and maneuvers like a sports car. That said, our house is at the 18mm at LOTO and it gets rough on the weekends. When we have guests, it relegates its use to early or late on the weekends which is when most visit. I like the 36 Skater, but I have come used to the wraparound windshield that we added during the refit (not plexiglass, but a Lee Aerospace wraparound), and I need it to hold 6. Of course I also have budget constraints $200-$250???
I realize this is a Skater group, but based on the above, if you guys were to go the the dark side of another brand, what would it be? The 34 Pelini maybe looks like a contender (we do prefer outboards). Anything else a guy might want to look at? I don’t know if I will keep my 28 which is perfect for the waters in most places or part with it.
I am certainly not in a rush to do anything. Anybody have any suggestions based on first hand experience?

Stepping up from 28 Skater
I guess it depends on how big you want to go. A 32 Skater is much bigger than a 28, and a 36/368 is bigger still.
The 32 is a very old design. Peter had honed his skills when he got to the 36.
If you want speed, look at Doug Wright.
If you want something big on a budget, look at Nor-Techs. They are not the fastest, but they are cheap and come with a toilet under deck if that is your thing.
Pilini's designs (Motion, Spectre, whatever else they are called) are, as far as I remember, based on splashing a 32 Skater and lengthening. That is very different from a 36 Skater.
