arneson asd6 drives on a 32' - 36 'cat
I am considering purchasing a new cat with twins, about 800hp each, and have been beating my head against a wall reading the various threads on beefed up Bravos. I have also noticed that everyone has positive things to say about the Arneson ASD-6 drives, but haven't seen any threads where anyone has actually used them on a twin engine cat as a bravo replacement. How do these drives handle in rough water? Are there any downsides to them other than low speed handling?
There was a thread a started back in February by a member who was putting them on a Spectre 36' - does anyone know how it turned out?

Here is my comments on the arenson drives. If you plan on keeping the Skater for a while and you plan on using it alot and running hard go with the Arensons. If you are going to use the skater 25 times a year and might sell after three years of owning it go with the Bravos. Arnesons are as tough as it gets. Bravos seem to be easier to handle around docks. Mixed feelings on both

Ditto on Apache 21's comments.
I have a cat with 1000+'s with #8's. The history of the drives on this unit is impeccable. Handling during docking is an issue. But like anything else, take your time, develope some skill and you will be fine.
Besides, the rooster tails are worth the price of admission.
I come to the Cayman's often. Have a buddy who is now a Caymanian resident and lives in the gated community by the large Marina west of the Hyatt. I understand anything you can bring to shore under it own power is not taxed in the Caymans.

Actually, the law was changed to 10% of the value from 18' up to 35' and 5% for anything over 35' if you plan keep the boat here in the Cayman's indefinitely. One of the reasons it was changed was because some people were trying to make the trip in 18 and 20 footers by bringing them by way of Key West to the north coat of Cuba then trucking them to the south coast and motoring to Cayman. I think I know the guy you're talking about in Vista Del Mar; p.m. me the next time you plan to come down.
The reason I'm investigating the arnesons is because the #6 drives are a bit too heavy for a 32' boat and it's pretty impossible to baby a bravo in the water that we have here in the islands. 6,000 feet of water meeting a wall 45' deep just 500-800 feet offshore can make performance boating a bit interesting!

I dove all 4 walls and the majority of the sites. I have seen how fast that drops. Straight off as a matter of fact. I had lunch with my buddy in Naples last week (he also has a home there) and I am coming down Decemebr 27th and leaving the 1st. I am flying my plane and in process of getting the Cuban fly over permits.
I beleive 72 Vista Del Mar is the address.
