Default repowering 358

Dropped a valve in my 2000 358 that had 502 mpi"s, sad part of it is

i was going to have the 502's rebuilt after the ft myers poker run but dropped the valve during the poker run.My options are as follows,a pair of 525's with 25-30 hours that the warranty had never been started on for 41000, a pair of innovation 600's for around 32000 or reuild the 502's to 500hp for around 18000. Is thre anyone with a 358 running 525's ?Is there enough clearance under the hatch? What kind of performance are you getting and with what prop?

I'd probably redo your 502's. How many hours on them when the valve dropped? I dropped one last summer at about 260 hours.

I have an 05 358 with twin 525's and I am running 82 with 27 pitch Hydromotive P-5X props. The engines fit underneath the hatches but the air cleaners on the 525's hit the back of the seat. I think Sonic has done something to correct this problem now.

I had 289 hours on that engine when it dropped the valve. I had been taking it easy until the helicopter came along side me, there were 2 footers the water was perfect for some good shots from the copter so away we went about 4 mins later sounded like marbles in the engine .Five hours and ten min. to get back on one engine. The good news was it was a good day to work on the tan.Viper do you think there is much difference in hatch between the 2000 and the 2005?I here there is big difference in the way the boat handles with the hydromotive props what did you have on the boat before?

I think that the 2000 and the 2005 that I have are the same. They may have made some changes after mine. I was running 30 pitch Bravo 1's prior to the Hydromotives. I tried 30 Bravo 1 labs and the speed was less and the cavitation out of the hole was really bad.
