I still need to see the side storage door assembly....
What you posted was helpful to me. Thanks.
It appears I am going to do something different from Sonic. I intend to put in upholstered full side panels. It gets rid of the hard & unfinished look of the cockpit. Also, I won't have to repaint the cockpit either.
More pictures would be helpful though if anyone has some.
Thanks!!

I too have been wanting to do the upholstered side panels. I was thinking of using the foam backed vinyl. I just don't know what to attach it to, plywood, masonite, plastic sheet? I am in the process of tearing the cockpit apart to paint it. I have removed the storage compartment door assembly and will take some detailed photos for you tomorrow.

Use 3/8" marine plywood for the panels. use spray glue to attach the foam to the plywood, then wrap the wood & foam in plastic. Now apply the upholstery material.
To attach the panels you can put in bolts after placing the bare panel in place & drilling mounting holes in the boat & panel at the same time. Now put "T-nuts" in place from the back side & thread bolts thru panel. It will now bolt up with no fastners showing. You must do this step before the foam & plastic tho'.
I can't wait for the pictures from you. Thanks!

The upholstry I'm thinking of is vinyl with 1/4" foam already attached. http://www.garysupholstery.com/foamback.html

Nice lookin' rigs!! Mine might look that good someday, I hope..... I'll never get the cabin finished this year, but will do the cockpit now.
Damn painters have had my boat for 4 weeks and just now got the primer on it to block sand it. This is taking up a lot of space in their shop, so they should want to get it out of there. Now that spring is here maybe they will move along.
I still need that picture of the gunwale storage ( under the bolsters).
Thanks guys... keep em' coming!!

Why do you need to repaint? I thought Fred had just done all of that. Here's the best storage compartment pic I have:
