Drive Ratios On 94 31ss
Can Someone Tell Me If My 94 31ss Came With A 1:36 Or 1:51 Ratio. I Can Not Tell By Looking At The Drives. Is There Any Way I Can Tell? The Problem Is This Boat Has Twin 502s And Has 14 1/2 X 22 4 Blade Props. The Boat Runs 46-4800 Rpm At 62 On Gps. I Would Like To See 5100 Rpm And What Ever The Speed Is At That Rpm Will Have To Do.

Re: Drive Ratios On 94 31ss
They came 1.5 stock. Clearly they have been changed if your spinning a 22P prop. It's amazing the thing will plane, go back to 1.5 and increase to a 28P 4 blade. Sweet spot will be between 26 and 28.
Sounds like it was set-up for a supercharger application and if so you may want to take a good looksy inside those drives when you change out those gears. That year with that power you should see upper 60's but that is about it.

My 31SS came with 24P/Mirage & 1.36 drives. So that is what you have- 1.36 according to your data. You just need to change the top gears in the drives and then buy new props!! or just get some prop work done.
