How Fast???
What would you guess the top speed for a 2001 32' Dominator pusing 600hp at the prop (prob. runing labbed 32's, Bravo 1's with 1.5 gears)? The boat currently hits 88-89mph with a pair of 500efi's (which will be for sale soon ) and labbed 30's.
I know a couple guys are getting 101-104mph out of them. One is running Whippled 500efi's and the other has 700hp at the prop! I'd like to fall somewhere in the middle!
Thanks!

Hey Diveboy is that 88-89MPH on GPS? I've heard claims of other boats with 500's running similar speed. I just don't understand how the 500's can be 10MPH faster than my 496Mag HO's. Supposedly there's only 90 more combined horse power.

Augie58: The motors are complete, fully dressed including wiring harness (less CMI elbow tops). They were installed in my boat back in March (02'). Still under Merc. factory warranty until I believe May/June of next year. I believe you can still purchase a 5 year extended warranty from Merc. They have between 25-30 hrs. on them now, all fresh water, no poker runs, or races, just pleasure boating! Oil was changed every 15 hrs, they're perfect! They have after market Arizona Spped & Marine flame arrestors on them (no performance increase but they look great).
I'm looking between $32-34K for the pair (but I'm open to offers). I've seen new ones in the crates (zero hrs.) for $21K. I think Merc. gets between $24-27K for them new. Let me know what you think. I can send pictures if you like....

Hey KN,
Those are gps speeds (88.5 mph). I'm running at 85-86 on gps with stock 30 Bravo 1's at 5000-5100 rpm. If I run the labbed 30's I run right at 88-88.5 at 5200-5250 rpm.
I've heard of a number of 32's running in the low 80's with 496HO's or 502 MPI's (82-83mph on gps). To get those speeds out of my boat, the water has to be a good solid 2-3 chop. Anything smaller and i lose a couple of mph. I'm also only running with a half tank of fuel (sometimes less) and with myself plus one on board. I'm not very familar with the the torque curve for the 496HO but I know the hp500efi has a very strong mid range punch.
Are you spinning your props in or out? If you spin them in, you can pick up 1-1.5 mph according to Wayne. I'm going to try this for next season (you will lose a little manuverability around the docks). Also, are you turning labbed props? That a 1.5-3mph gain depending! When I first started running the boat at the beginning of the season, I could only get 83-84 out of it with the stock props. It took a little testing/learning the boat to gain that extra 2-3mph.
Good luck!
You could always buy my hp500efi's !!!!!

I listed the wrong price on my hp500efi's. I'm looking to get 28K for the pair without exhaust (I was originally selling them with CMI's and tail pipes at 32K). OPPS!
