Well, finally got the motor broken in and was able to pull some speed runs... 496 H.O. Fresh water, 2 people and 1/4 tank of gas, I got 71.4 @ 4,900 rpms with a stock 26P bravo 1 and 12% slip, cruise speed @ 3,500 was 45, and at 4,000 it was 55. so far I am pretty happy with the results.. I have a labbed 26 B1 that will run 5,200 and am hoping to see between 74-75, but unfortunately I lost the key to the prop lock so labbed prop testing wil have to wait..
overall the speed is exactly what I expected and respectable being a single 29 footer with H.O. power.

Thanks guys,, anything @ or over 70 I figured I would be happy, I will be testing the labbed 26 on friday and all things being equal, anything over 73 is gravy..
and if I see anything near 75 will do cart wheels... I'm thinking I may have to have a 1/2 - 1 inch of pitch added to the labbed, because it's going to run 5,200...

No, it won't run 5200. The rev limiter is set at 5150. I doubt you will see a 4 mph increase, but hey it's worth a try. Hell, I would stick with the stock prop. More durable, less likely to cut the sh*t out of you, and most importantly, better cruise speeds.
I know Reckless' old 288. Those are great numbers!

Macklin,, Thats why I said I needed to have an inch of pitch added,, get it back down to 5,050.. If my slip does not increase too much, the calculator says 74.5 with the labbed.. we will see..

i have a 05/288 with a 525 efi with new hull and merc racing its system.
im hitting 78 gps calm water no lab prop.
my ecm is being recalibrated due to rich conditions. and soot on transom.
my plugs fouled at 30 hrs. so they are reprograming my ecm this week.
i will re test top speed/rpm then get a lab prop.
ive been told 80 + with a lab prop. im running a stock 28 pitch
