I don't have any details. Those results were cut and pasted from the APBA site.

I don't believe that shows the boats that register with SBI. So it might not show the overall winner in each class. Correct?

Correct - just those that paid APBA registration.

From the APBA website-

NC Resident Joins Bull To Take CRC By The Horns
Miccosukee Indian Gaming Bets on Victory And Wins

Orange Beach, AL 8-22-04 - - Justice came today for Mitch Miller and Bob Bull. After getting stomped by the #7 Team CRC in the APBA Offshore GMC Pro Grade Series Tour Stop in Washington, the Super Cat Light™ Class in Orange Beach today was payback time and the debt has been paid.

For Miller, who is a 4 Time APBA-U.I.M. World Kilo Speed Record Holder, one of which was earned in Washington with Bull at his side, the win was a sweet one, taking victory away yet again from his teacher, Jeff Harris, throttleman of the #7 Team CRC.

Harris who along with owner/driver “Magic” Mike DeFrees couldn’t pull the rabbit out of the hat today, couldn’t manage to get around Miller and Bull either, the two stayed in the clean water from the start, and took Team CRC by the horns to the slaughter.

Harris, from Greenville, North Carolina, and DeFrees, from Vancouver, Washington, didn’t go down easy, almost catching the #3 CMS Mechanical – Castaway Team on the last lap cutting the turn sharp and sweet and hedging into an close 200 foot split between them and the # 3 at the finish.

Anyway you look at it, master boat builder Randy Scism would be proud of both of his Marine Technology Super Cat Light™ teams. The pair were just two of a number of other MTI teams surfacing in Orange Beach to promenade in front of thousands of spectators that lined the beach for the 2004 Thunder On The Gulf racing action.

For the competitors, however, there was only one first place and today, it went to the #3 CMS Mechanical – Castaway, while Team CRC did earn a checkered flag in the uncontested race in Outlaw Performance ™ 1. The win for CMS Mechanical Castaway still gives them a firm grip on the APBA Offshore GMC Pro Grade Series National Points chase in Super Cat Light™ , while Team CRC holds the first place ranking in P-1.

“It’s pretty good when you got three teams all within four seconds at the finish line,“ said Miller.

“It was eleven laps, and the hardest fought battle I’ve ever had in boat racing. Bob couldn’t have been any better on the throttles and having my old crew chief, Benjie Brooks to help us for the weekend only added to the success. I’m sure Mike and Jeff will be hot, hopefully on our tail, at the next one.”

Good news for fans is that these two highly skilled, highly professional teams will continue the grudge match for the rest of the season, points or not, title or not. It’s just an unwritten rule, and one that many APBA Offshore Racing Team competitors share. It’s all about the race.

In the Super Vee™ Class, it was all about the race as well, as a last minute entry by the #30 Miccosukee Indian Gaming’s Brett Lee Furshman and recently teamed partner, Wyatt Fountain bet on winning and did it all the way.

Perhaps their strategy was to hold back on-shore with the last minute entry, but offshore, they took a similar strategy to the #3 CMS as they rolled out to the clean water in front. Crew members crossed their fingers that this new association between Fountain, Furshman and their Mercury powered Fountain Powerboat would hold out and it clearly did as they spanked the fleet, lap after lap.

As every competitor knows, the race ends when the checkered flag is thrown, however, after leading all eleven laps ahead of the #18 Team Adrenaline’s Scot Conrad, from Cote de Caza, California and Ken Bowen, from Newport Beach, in their Donzi Super Vee, Miccosukee Indian Gaming piloted the 6.6 mile per lap race into shut-out.

While Team Adrenaline hoped for continued rough water like the waters on the Friday testing, they didn’t get their wish today, and while they did their best on the turns running them sharp and neat, the speed on the straight-aways wasn’t enough to catch up to the #30, nor was it for fellow Donzi fleet-mates the #59 Lightning Strikes with Alan Green from Jacksonville, Florida and Michael Flanigan from Tampa doing their best to catch the third place #11 Pier 57.

With Crew Chief Bill Glueck stepping in behind the wheel to bring Bill McComb a checkered flag birthday gift, the Sarasota based team hung in a safe third for most of the race. By lap nine of eleven, however, the #59 managed to get by them and for Pier 57, an entrance to Victory Lane will have to wait until the next race, where the #18 Team Adrenaline still holds the power in the GMC Pro Grade Series National Points chase.

“Brett did a great job driving today. We’ve only been in the boat a couple times together and his driving, along with our Mercury power, really held it out today,” said Wyatt Fountain.

“Once we got ouf front in the clean water it was a lot easier. It’s our second race with our new Mercury powered engines and having Wyatt in the boat and Fountain Powerboats really brought the boat together in a very short amount of time. If it wasn’t for our five-year relationship with Miccosukee Indian Gaming, we

In the Outlaw Performance Extreme ™ Class, David Callan, from New York, New York and throttleman, John Cosker in their PX-17, Callan Marine, a Tencara with Sterling Performance Engines joined the fleet for the required parade lap, yet broke after crossing the start-line in front of the pier.

It was just the break the #PX-1 Bacardi Silver’s John Tomlinson, of North Miami, Florida and Hugh Fuller from Clearwater needed and they broke away followed in hot pursuit by the #PX-77 Pair-A-Dice Racing Team.

Coming round on lap-one, Bacardi took no chances following the same strategy as CMS and Miccosukee… get the clean water and run like the wind. For the reported three to four footers, it was the right decision of the day for the winners, as Tomlinson, on throttles and Fuller at the wheel repeated their legendary, winning track record in a Douglas Marine Skater with Sterling Performance Engines.

Sterling Performance Engines were also housed in the #PX-77’s Pair-A-Dice Racing who held onto second place through the third lap then lost the steam and was eventually lapped by Bacardi on their way to the finish.

MTI fleet members Rick Perthel, of Colgate, Wisconsin, and Mark Lee from Oshkosh experienced gremlins in Milwaukee and Washington and planned to have the kinks worked out, but it was not to be. They will, however, continue working on their boat as well as competing on the GMC Pro Grade Series National Tour, and next up for all the teams is Fort Walton Beach, Florida over the weekend of September 17th – 19th, 2004.

Uncontested wins of the day went to the Outlaw Performance ™ Vee # PV-71 Rio Roses with driver, Mike Seebold of Frontenac, Missouri and throttleman, Ben Robertson of Jacksonboro, NC sharing their second consecutive APBA Offshore GMC Pro Grade Series victory of the season in the Mercury powered Fountain.

They were joined by the #53 Super Cat™ team of Chris Carmody from Houston, Texas, and Roy Schrader of Goleta, California, as well as Massachusetts based Harry Turner and Walter Collins and New York based Steve Britton in the #P2-8 TKO/Obsession in the Outlaw Performance ™ 2 Class.

“It’s always a good thing to win,” said Turner, from East Falmouth.

“It was good water for us, and the three to four footers evened up the playing field between the Vee’s and the Cat’s. Some of the corners were tough. It’s a great venue, the people were nice and Orange Beach is a beautiful venue.”

The #53 Hidden Agenda finished one lap of the race experiencing yet another glitch, while the #P2-8 ran flawlessly over their six laps.

Bob Mazikowski from Suwanee, Georgia returned to the offshore arena along with Prattville, Alabama resident Sean Gallagher to take an uncontested win in their Mercury powered Motion cat, P3-33 Hometown Mortgage in the Outlaw Performance ™ 3 class.

continued from above....again...

With Mark Slater and Tyler Crockett of the #P3-1 Team Fortress Racing at a Parade appearance during the Michigan based 2004 Woodward Dream Cruise to promote the 2005 Port Huron Offshore Gran Prix next June, Hometown Mortgage cleary had the rough ride of the day award for having to contend with the massive wakes and rooster tails of the much longer and more powerful boats in the second race of the day.

“It was fun being a knat. We were the little yellow boat that could, today,” laughed Mazikowski.
