I believe the jackplate is a must if your looking for top end as well as a setback if at least 12"

You mean your motor is mounted on the Transom???

if so then Hell Yeah!!! Just ordered the 10" for the Pantera(similar hull), 6" wasnt enough, motor hit the transom when tilted.

Id do a 12in. setback then add the electric jackplate behind it to pick up an additiional 3-4 in. Good to go in many conditions. Oh yeah Id do transome bracing as well.

My uncle has a 24' i/o converted it to an o/b with a 12' Setback. Worked out real nice with a 250 EFI, did not ride as good with the o/b but went few mph faster and was more reliable.

If I'm not mistaken, Superbash has a 18" on his 2003 24' Superboat. The boat rides and handles sweet.

Also if setting back the motor. Remember that all that torque on the transom is multiplyed. A tie bar system need to be put in.
