Re: Week Nights on the CT River
Hey Guys,
Special thanks to OH-Zone and T-Mone for making the treak down from up north to run with me on the CT River last night...
Prop testing was the first order of business so after launching in Chester, we blasted down to Essex.
My boat hit 74mph with 2 guys full fuel and a full cooler spinning my labbed 28p B1. T-Mone hit 80mph with about the same load spinning his labbed 27p Mirage +. I don't recall OH-Zones exact numbers but he ran about the same as me bouncing off the rev limiter.
We pulled up on a beach to crack a beer and BS some...
OH-Zone decided to stick with his newly labbed 5 blade but T-Mone and I switched props for a little test.
When I first hit the throttle the 3 blade totally blew out. Then I tried again and she just revved to the moon. I trimmed up to make sure I had not screwed something up when I mounted the prop. T-Mone cruised over a told me you can't hammer the throttle like with a 4 blade...
Anyway, I figured it out and got planed off...
The 3 blade Mirage + was definitely faster on top; up about 1.5mph vs the B1, but the cruise suffered down about 5mph at 4000rpm. I'll say the boat was a lot more loose and did not take nearly as much trim to carry the bow with the 3 blade, but overall I like the 4 blade better...
T-Mone said the my 28p B1 lugged his high revving engine some but he still hit 78mph. Next time we run, I'll offer him my 26p B1.
After cruising north we hug on another little sandbar by the old CT Yankee plant and enjoined the serenity. As the sun set we putted over to the Blue Oar for a little chow; boy the deserts were awesome...
Then we made are way back south to Chester using spot lights to find the markers in the dark. It was pretty much black by 8pm as the first day of Fall concluded...
Remember, the CT River Run, October 21st, high speed foliage cruise...
Happy Boating!

Hay Pat! Great getting together with you and TMone!
Greg...Thanks for dinner and being there for me with the lines, bumpers and cold ones!!! Your fountain looked SWEET! I really dig your neck-of-the-woods over there! The casual Island-type atmosphere at the Blue Oar was just the ticket and the food was excellent. Summer is soooo short

Re: Week Nights on the CT River
Well to keep things short. The latest tweek on the P5x slowed me down quite a bit and was all over the rev-limiter in acceleration and top end. Running 74. NOT HAPPY!!! So today I ordered a 1" spacer which will put me at 3 3/4" below the bottom and 7 1/2" back with the ITS. Way too much slip... Throttle up tried last time to take out some cup but no bow lift Im getting frustrated......
