Question Cabin Doors

Anybody ever change out the cabin doors on their 24' Superboat?
I think the plastic doors in my boat are kind of cheap looking...
I especially don't like the swing up top. It is week, and I some times put weight on it when I climb up on the deck.
I spoke to JC about them once, he told me that they used to use plexi-glass, but they broke too easily.
Maybe JC would make some fiberglass doors for a 24', or at least the swing up part.
Anyone got an idea how to improve the boat in this area ???

Hi Patrick, Thanks again for your advise, Ilooked at the doors in the pics from another post and thought why not make them out of aluminum make the top door longer and overlap the two bottom doors also put some beefier hinges on. Ibelieve that would add strength and you could powdercoat them any color you wanted too. Just an idea. Tom

zzzzzz,
You may have something here.
I just check out in the stock room here at work. We have both 8 and 10mm thk. aluminum plate.

Hey Dave,
zzzzzz and I spoke for over an hour last night. He may be in the market for a 24' Superboat soon. Sean's is a little out of the price range, so I mentioned yours. Have you decided if you are going to sell yet?

How much is Sean asking for his? I would think that are values are pretty close. I'm not sure how his is rigged.
K-planes?, external steering? swim platform?

Hi Dave,
I believe Sean is asking 40K for his 2000.
His boat was rigged similar to yours from the factory.
Sean please correct me if I'm wrong; 454Mag MPI, K-planes, single ram add on steering... and I believe he added CMI headers and had the brain re-calibrated for more HP. I do not believe Sean has added a swim platform.
Shoot Tom an e-mail with your asking price if you have decided to go bigger.

Hey Dutrasystem,
Tom was making a suggestion from seeing our standard plastic doors.
I'm going to bug JC about a fiber-glass flip up. If he wants too much $$, then I will make one out of aluminum.
Also, you may want to e-mail him if your price is negotiable. I'm not sure if he is quite ready to buy, but you never know.

Angry Cabin Doors/hatch Upgrades

Just did step #1 in modifying the half assed cabin doors. I installed 2 new dual matching hatch supports. Definately gonna go with the 3/4" starboard hatch & doors. I"ll router everything to fit. Also installed speakers & grab bars. Oh, I got 3 tickets Sunday outside of Dildo(Gilgo) Beach. Suffolk Police in an old 21' Shadow or Challenger or something with a blue strobe lite & a 200 EFI MERC."Safe Boating Week". NEXT TIME I"LL SHOW THEM THE CAPABILITIES OF SUPERBASH'S 24!!!

Default Re: Cabin Doors

I was looking at the door/hatch thing last night.
Are you sure the 3/4" thick will work?
It will not end up flush for hinge mounting. Maybe mill pockets for the hinges...

Bash, I like the addition of the handles.
