Gary,
Just got home. JC came into the shop just around when I was leaving and told me about the computer. Mercury says that the motor runs a conservative CONSTANT computer controlled 6 lbs. of pressure to the charger. Yet last Friday it only had 3.9 lbs. and running 50 lbs short on tork. The rep said he would flash the puter giving you more tork and bringing the boost up to it's specified mark. JC tells me that it's only running 4.2 lbs. of boost. What gives with Mercury ???? The rep said after he flashed the puter you should easily get 4 to 6 mph. I also told JC to try the 5 blades again. When he ran the 28, Babi was only turning 4700. The rep had a 26 there at the ramp, we should have tried it. Hell even give the 24 a shot. I'm wondering if Merc is detuning the puter. Why isn't it putting out 6 lbs of boost ??? Jc said the rep left some more props to try. One being a left handed 5 blade, 26. I wonder if any of the Superboaters have any experience with tweeking puters.

Hey Guys,
I have been reading all I can about the new 5 blade props. From what I have read the Merc 5 blade work best when the diameter has been cut down from 15 3/4" to 15-1/4".
Also, they are heavy on pitch. So if a 28p bravo 4 blade works then likely a 26p Merc 5 Blade...
As far as computer controlled engines, they are a real PIA if they are not set up properly on an emissions
dyno! Believe me when I tell you, I lived it last year...
AZ Speed re-calibrated my ECU 3 times for a simple cam and exhaust change... I should have gain like 75HP and got maybe 30HP... What I should have done was bolt on a carb...
This year when I decided to run the EFI, I put the stock cam back in and didn't touch the stock computer. Next year when I build a 500EFI, I'm using a 500EFI cam and 500EFI computer calibration...
Sorry to say this Gary, but that Merc 600 should be tweaked on a dyno, not in your boat...

Pat.
Supposedly the 600 comes " tweeked " from Mercury Racing. The computer showed it had over an hour on it when it arrived. The Rep is saying that the cold water is affecting the computer. We're hoping they can square this up. Talking with Gary yesturday at the shop. Tried more props. It's frustrating.
