I agree that an LS1 setup would be pretty sweet. However, there have been a few pairs of 500+ hp engines in the classifieds in the $10-15k range. I would think it would still be cheaper to buy one of these pairs of engines and drop 'em in than to build a pair of traditional or LS1 small-blocks. I'd also hazard a guess that you'd be within 5 mph or so with the big blocks of what you'd get out of the small-blocks. I love interesting combinations, but it ain't my boat!

Ok, one last question. If you had the inclination to do the glass work (or a cheap hook-up for glass work), what kind of speed could you expect out of a big single? Didn't the 31' with the 850 in Mass. run 85? Does anyone have experience with this setup?

That would be interesting! I would add to the glass work maybe a pad and a 12-15 notch or larger set back of same length. I think it would be harder to get mph from a single with the traditional bottom. i saw a local (south jersey) rigger put a notch in a straight bottom formula and it looked amazing. havent heard to observed #s yet but the work is 1st rate.

Toasty, the 32badboy seems to run nice w/ a 'not too big' of a single. How would it run w/ a pair of 500sbc?
DBA... "there have been a few pairs of 500+ hp engines in the classifieds in the $10-15k range. I would think it would still be cheaper to buy one of these pairs of engines and drop 'em in than to build a pair of traditional or LS1 small-blocks."
True, but who is to say what the condition of these engines are. I've heard too many stories about buying used power.
If I were buying used engines(dyno time or whatnot), i'd figure bringing it to a shop (Bandit, JC, Zul, Mesa) to open up the top end... and add that to the cost.

i am not sure how the 32 will run with 2 500hp SBCs i know its fast and stable with a single 680. and in the mid 90s with a single 850 injected. There is a boat sitting (new) i believe that has stringers set up for twin SBCs the boat should be light and like a rocketship.

sr has a red 32 twin set up last summer it didn't have a gas tank in it yet, so it could be reworked for a single. boxer should have some speed # soon. ernie has been busy with noppers 26 pete did the paint over and stuff. I wanted the red hull unfinished but to much cake for me being a 07 hull. I wish I knew chris was selling the 05 other 32 sutphen last yr before I bought the konrad and Gellner motor ,I got that money tied in to that set up could of bought chris's boat complete. the black 33 minus power looks like a fun project for the future if its still around this fall. twin 700s # 4 drives new paint or twin gellner 1100s.
