I think an OP needs room in the engine compartment and the ass lightened. I went the easy route to Konrads. No faster that I can tell so far but they look cool.

Bumping the thread just because. I was looking at 1800runsnew's website and see they have a 400 hp 383 and a 460 hp 496. The "fully dressed" 383 is a couple of hundred bucks more than the "base" 496. What kind of numbers would this boat run with either setup? Would the big-blocks be faster or would the lighter weight of the small-blocks offset the hp/torque difference? It sure would be nice to have the extra space small-blocks would give you...

I guess we'd have to weigh the boat. This is an early ('78) OP with basically nothing in the cabin other than some cushions. It's currently rigged with a pair of 330s and TRS drives. I'm trying to get some ideas since the motors have to come out anyway.

Bumping my own thread since it's 30 degrees out. What's the fastest 30/31 out there? I know about the 31 with triple outboards that does 96. Are there any faster? Does anyone want to hazard a guess on how many HP it would take to get a 30/31 to 100 mph? 700-750 a side?

I also was wondering what it would take it to get a OP to 100
