I think these are the part numbers for the steering shaft seals.
26-8m2005029 X2
23-98357
23-98356
can you check on those also.

$1500 for a complete transom assembly is very fair. After trying piece together one, the parts cost way more than you can get a decent assembly for.

There were two for sale the other day for $900 each. Newer assymblies that looked good and came off of a fresh water boat.
