Conroe Installs Red-Light Cameras
Warning Period Begins Jan. 5

POSTED: Wednesday, December 23, 2009

CONROE, Texas -- Red-light runners will soon have extra eyes on them in Conroe, KPRC Local 2 reported Wednesday.

FIND IT: City of Conroe

The city of Conroe announced red-light cameras will begin taking photographs of red-light runners beginning on Jan. 5.

The cameras are located at the following 10 intersections.

N/B Hwy 75 (Frazier) @ N. Loop 336 W
S/B Hwy 75 (Frazier) @ N. Loop 336 W
E/B N. Loop 336 W @ Hwy 75 (Frazier)
W/B N. Loop 336 W @ Hwy 75 (Frazier)
N/B Hwy 75 (Frazier) @ Hwy 105
S/B Hwy 75 (Frazier) @ W. Phillips
E/B Hwy 105 @ Highland Hollow
E/B Hwy 105 @ N. 10th St.
E/B Hwy 105 @ Sgt. Ed Holcomb Blvd.
S/B Hwy 75 (Frazier) @ S. Loop 336W

There will be a 30-day warning period in which no fines will be issued. After that, drivers will receive citations.

"The warning period will give residents an opportunity to become familiar with the red-light system. We encourage people to slow down and definitely stop on red before the actual citations begin," said Sgt. Jon Buckholtz. "This is a public safety program, and our goal is to deter red-light runners and prevent collisions resulting from these violations. The best-case scenario is drivers will stop at the red lights, preventing deadly crashes, and no citations are issued"

Officials said cameras will operate 24 hours a day and capture images of every vehicle running a red-light at the intersection. Warning signs alerting drivers to the red-light cameras have been installed prior to the warning period.

They also don't have 300' of water frontage, an open water view, low taxes and association fees.

The extra tub is in the storage building with the extra toilet if anyone needs one.
