Tandem or Triple ?
Any thoughts on going with a tandem trailer for my 89 311 ..I know its at the limit but I keep my boat on a lift and only would use the trailer a few times a year .... Repairs and some trips here in Florida ..... my trailers in the past sit so long I would have to buy new tires each trip ... I plan to be more active with the 311 .... stupid idea ?

7400 dry ....I looked up loadmaster Alum specs and they list a Tandem @ 9800 GVW ... for a 31' ... I would think the trailer would be about 1200 lbs . I know some people use 9200lbs for loaded wet weight of a 311 ... maybe ... it would def be on the limit ...

I'm at the same boat weight as you. I ordered my Eagle with tandem axles, but with the HD axles. Didn't want the triple axle issues. There are tons of 35' Fountains on tandems. Even under Myco. So if Myco does it, it must be good.

OTF: love the clean graphics on your old bird. My 302 (very similar to your 311 for this purpose) sits on a double axle steel Myco, and it does fine. Pulls straight and true, even with a blown tire on the trailer. Once I blew a tire on rear axle of the truck, going down a long steep hill on the interstate (High hill for those who've pulled to LOTO from St. Louis), and it still pulled very nice and the whole rig was very controllable. It has 5200lb axles and 16" wheels with very strong tires. Sits pretty tall, if that's a factor for you. I also run a lot of tongue weight, as the trailer was probably built for a slightly smaller boat, probably with Bravo's instead of TRS's. There is about 9300lbs on the axles, and another 1200 on the tongue, and I've pulled thousands of miles all across the eastern half of the country, including the Appalachian mountains. Many big trailers are using duals on dual axles, and they don't have a problem, plus it's easier to turn in tight spots.
I've also got a 40' trailer with trips (in case the boat hits a growth spurt ) and it pulls nice too, but tight turns are hard on it.

I assume you want a aluminum....get stainless steel hardware, brakes, etc. I have 6K lbs (3) axles under my 312. Overkill....yes, but I trailer every weekend. A pair of those would work fine and give you close to 10K in available weight towards the boat. 16' 8 lug wheels will be a must though.
But what are you tryng to save.....a few hundred bucks on the trailer? Is it worth running at the edge of trailer capacity. I run 75-80 on the interstate and don't want to be concerned that I am maxing out the trailer. Turning is a little harder but I prefer the tradeoff. Either way is OK, just follow your comfort level.
