I have a 2004 F-250 6.0 with 16,000 miles that has been putting oil up on the underside of the hood right above the turbo. I have had it back 3 times so far and they have done a couple of things they say was the problem but it must not have been, its still doing it. I am starting to get very aggrevated after 3 times and still not fixed. They put dye in the oil last week and told me to come back this week and they are gonna put the blue light on it to try to find the source of the leak. I have mentioned the turbo a couple of times, but they always say they dont think that is where it is leaking???

Go here and you can talk right to a Ford dealership diesel tech. I've taken printouts in and requested a conversation with the adviser WITH the tech present. I've handed them printouts with TSB#'s , part #'s and such- it definitely cuts thru the BS. If you tell them verbally about something you read on the net, they're going to blow you off like you're a nut. Documentation from another tech- especially when it references information form Ford's tech-only site tends to shut them up and get them moving in the right direction.
A word of advice- if you allow a problem to persist beyond the warranty period, you're screwed. Ford says you're SOL on pre-existing issues. The best defense is a good offense. I'd go in armed with printouts of your state's lemon laws and reference them in your discussion. In Ohio you have 3 attempts at one repair or eight total unrelated repairs and you get a new car. Being nice is going to get you a good screwing.
Here's Florida's lemon law statute. I read it to say three strikes down there, too.

the 6.0 ford has had a lot of problems with. go with the 7.3. My father has a 250 with a 6.0 and has had nothing but problems. the truck has been to the dealer at least 15 times and they say nothing wrong. He drives it to florida and the mechanic changed a sensor on the turbo at least once a month. He has 12,000 on the truck and is going through the lemon law at this time. Last week a air hose of some type broke off thr turbo, what a piece of $$$$.

I had heard that the 6.0 block was built by Navistar/International and Ford put their components on from there.. The 7.3 was completely buitl and spec'd by Navistar/Intrernational.
I hope the 6.4 is left to the hands that know what they are doing.

I took the truck to a different dealership, they put on a new EGR valve and a new throttlebody gasket. I have had it back 12 days and seems to still NOT be leaking any oil up on hood. They had it 1 hour and the leak seems to be cured so far. My original dealer had it 4 times and once for 3 days and could not seem to fix it??? Plus my original dealers mechanic scratched the sh&% out my grill the last time I had it in

The turbo just went bad in my 04 F-250, 20,000 miles, it is an early 04. The dealer reflashed the computer to make it driveable and they are supposed to put a new one on this friday.

Seems a lot of EGR, wiring harnesses and rear main seal problems.
