The 7.3's are very good engines. The tranny's are the weak link. I replaced mine just over 50K miles but other than that NO problems at all. I tow with mine and it has 8" of lift on 37" tires without any problems. Dave

i had a 00 f350 4x4 with the 7.3 and as previously noted,,,great truck other than trans issues especially if used for towing weight, and alot of engine noise(compared to my 04 S/D with the 6.0)...price is about average for this area.
