Our 8.1L 2500 Yukon XL gets 13-14 mpg day to day and 9-10 mpg towing 12,000 pounds (4.10 gears).
I would step up to a 8.1 if you can, as it has the power you need. Family pricing ending soon!!!

Already have a "Super Chip" programmer on the truck and it makes a small difference. The 8.1L would have been better in hindsight, but oh well. I think I'm going to just wait (and pray) that they put the duramax in the Burb.
