1995 Suburban 2500
Does anyone know how many pounds can be towed with a 1995 Suburban with the 454 in it. I want to get a used tow vehicle for my 1985 Cigarette Mistress. I only tow it about 4 miles round trip and maybe 5 trips that might be 250 miles round trip. Not a trailering situation hach week.
Thanks

I towed a 1984 30' Scarab with twin 454's and trs's with a full tank of gas (150gl) from FL to Chicago with a 2500burban and it did it no problem......had airbags and a weight distribution hitch to help for the tow though......i can tell you the 454 and the 4l80e trans are up to the task no problem....its the short wheelbase that will get ya. There were a few times where the air blast from a passing semi truck made me uneasy...but towing 75mph was no problem at all.....i figured out the total combination of boat/trailer/gas/ and extars was about 13k lbs......

Gear ratio will play a factor in what the Burb is rated for, but you should be OK. Keep in mind that the truck may NOT be rated for that much weight. Some of the guys on this site are more concerned about that than others.
PS. I tow a 10,500 lbs (loaded) boat/trailer with an 03 Burb. It does fine but is rated for less than that.

K2500(4wd)Sub. max triler wieght 3:73 gear:7500lbs/900 tongue wieght
4:10 gear: 10000lbs/1000
hope this helps out.....FYI.......the 6.5 turbo diesel 2500 4x4 is rated at 7500lbs with a 4:10 and 6000 with a 3:73
heres my set up ......hopped up 6.5......trailer and boat with gas and all our junk for a weekend on the water wieghs 9500.....with the mods to the diesel it does a pretty nice job....Im satisfied.....mind you were not pulling up 7mi grades either.......gets great gas milage when unloaded which it is 90% of the time........doug

Try to find a 96 or newer, they were the start of the Vortec motors and have quite a bit more power. The 95 on down were pretty doggy I thought. Chassis and tranny will be fine.
