Recently towed 8k lb travel trailer for 530 mi. averaged 7.5 to 9 mpg. though i was heavy in the gas 72-76 mph the whole way. this is a 05 ford PSD dually 55,xxx on the truck. - Andrew

I just towed my boat home frome Chicago w/my 00 Dodge Dually Tbo/Dsl. About 8k lbs and got about 15mpg at 75mph.

Wow this is some good info. I did not realize that the Cummins got such good mileage. I'll be making my purchase in the next few months and this will help.

Just bought a 2006 F250 6.0 King Ranch FX4. I am getting about 18.5 MPG at 70mph unloaded hwy and about 15 combo hwy and city. I have not pulled the boat yet. What do you suggest I do to increase the fuel economy without voiding the factory warranty?

I dont mean to question anyones results, but Sean H's numbers seem a wee bit out of the norm. I don't know the specifics of the vehicle, but I do know that the Edge modules will provide a false reading on the mileage computer on board the vehicle as will most aftermarket performance modules and programmers.

I run an 03' Dodge 3500 Auto Twin Turbo with a completely modified motor, and on a 6"lift with 37" tires, I am getting 16 in the city and around 18 on the hwy. These numbers are running with a performance cam which yields better mileage, and a Timing and duration fueling box.

My mother has an 05' 2500 Dodge auto and is getting 17-18 in city and 19-20 hwy. Her truck is bone stock and has 9k miles on the clock.

Both trucks are 4X4

I like them but like my boats and my business I always want better. I guess I am never satisfied. You are talking to man who decided to lab a pair of stock props that were yielding 6% slip at 200 less max RPM.

Any thoughts would be helpful.

That is a good point. A friend here at work has an Edge on his Cummins. The overhead shows about 3-4 mpg more than what he hand calculates.

I have a 2005 Cummins 2500 4x4. Unloaded highway I averaged about 19mpg (hand calculated) the last trip I took. Around town I run about 14mpg and that is going through about 8 traffic lights on the way to work. Towing I get between 12-14mpg.

hand calcs, mileage divided by gallons, its not rocket science.... i have seen plenty of trucks do it plus my own..
