Default Fuel Mileage

Looking for real world fuel mileage on the following trucks with a diesel. Let’s keep this thread on track and not bash the brands. I am not loyal to any brand just looking at what people get.

Chevy/GMC 3500 Towing/Town

Ford 1 Ton

Dodge 1Ton

Med. Duty

Chevy/GMC

Ford

This is true. As the engine "runs in" your mileage will go up. I bought a Titan last March and the computer was showing 14 highway at first, now it's 18 at 70mph. Towing 5000lbs fresh about 10, now 15 at 60-65 or so.

Used my sisters '02 GMC dually Durmax/Allison, IN to OK towing 32' Fountain, 11mpg. It had under 5000 miles on it at the time.

a chipped chevy 3500 crewcab dually 4x4 gets about 23-24 highway not towing...

a chipped ford 250 crewcab srw gets about 21-22 highway not towing...

running a stock diesel you would get about 5-6 less than that...

Most Cummins get 18-19 fwy, 15-16 towing on slicksides. We towed Bill's 42 Sonic all over pacing OSS races this year with his 2003 Cummins 3/4 and avgd 15-16mpg. My old 12-valve gets 20-22mpg fwy and 19-20 city. Towing my T-Bred I get around 18 mpg (around 7k lbs) .

01 Excursion Powerstroke with 40" tires, 12 mpg before the chip, 18 mpg with the Bullydog chip. I can't believe what a difference it made, I should have done it years ago.
