I drove one and they are kind of gutless. If you are going to go to a larger truck then the normal one ton, I would opt for the crew cab freightliner M-2

yes they are more expensive but the cat motor will run triple miles over the duramax. The M-2 is a real truck almost, where the 4500 Top Kick is an oversized pickup. If you are just going to pull you boat around town the Top Kick will work. If you are going to pull cross country than spend the extra money for the Freightliner.
