Another smoke-blower here- I average 17.7 mpg overall. 85% on-highway.

I have the 6.0. The 7.3 doesn't enjoy the same fuel efficiency.

If you buy an Ex, do the DIY Superduty suspension upgrade. Front springs/rear blocks. Lifts it about 3" in the front and levels it. makes a much better, more stable ride and a big difference towing. Plus you can put 315/17 tires on it (Hummer H2 size)

I pulled my Tiger to Florida and back in November about 3200 miles and averaged 12 MPG with a GM Duramax. Normal in town driving is around 16 MPG.

I'd come to that show with my 2005 DMax. Don't know how much faster you could be than 12.75 at 121mph in the quarter mile. Ken.

I dont think its as cut and dry as people think.

Lets do some math based on some of Trouty's findings

V10 14mpg Hwy

Diesel 18mpg Hwy

Current Gas Price (Tampa) $2.30
Current Diesel Price (Tampa) $2.65

Cost of gas based on 100,000 miles $16428.00

Cost of Diesel based on 100,000 miles $14722.00

Diesel Cost Savings over Gas $ 1706.00 ( Based on 100,000mi)

Diesel Option cost over V10 $5100.00

Net Loss for Diesel $3394.00

5 year old resale on Ford Diesel Truck (NADA) $19075.00
5 year old resale on V10 Truck $15500.00

Difference $3575.00

Net Net Cost savings of owning a Diesel truck over gas (5 years/100000mi = $181

This does not include Additional cost in maintance etc.........

So one must ask is it that much of a difference, and how many of us actually keep a truck that long?
