[QUOTE=masher44]Dealer said the motor that engages my front differential was in pieces? He was holding part of it in his hand.... Is this right? I find it hard to believe this motor is located in a spot where it can be broken? WTF?

Ahhh...hello...it is not a monster truck

On mine I've had a bad ground cause all sorts of electrical problems, dash lights, climate control, radio failures and also Excursions had a torque converter recall (did this one causing tranny problems). My Ranger 04 had the same problem with 4wheel drive not engaging. I'll look for the invoice to see what they fixed under warrenty....

When did the Ex have a TC campaign? What years covered? Do you have a #?

Mine was the motor that engages the front differential when the switch is turned to 4WD. A rock must have kicked up and rattled around ABOVE the skid plate and hit the diff. motor. The motor was in pieces. Just a freak thing. Took them 4 hours to figure out had happened. No warranty They also did 3 or 4 recalls....

Pleeeze...a rock???....must be some other cause....how about this....your hammered and drove in reverse over something like stick or metal sign and it came from behind up above the skid plate blasting the motor....it is quite evident your not the worlds best driver under these conditions
