Having spent a little time on www.thedieselstop.com I realized that Jody in Ashville, NC offers the best set up for the 7.3 on the planet.
It is called the DP Tuner. It is an old school chip that you have to install (which was very easy), and it has as many as six programs that are custom to your needs. He can even set it up for different tire sizes if not running stock so your speedo it accurate.
I called him and told him what we did with our truck, and what I wanted from the chip and in two days I had a custom unit.
My is set up with four positions:
1 = Stock
2 = 40 HP Tow Mode (safe for 12,000lbs)
3 = 80 HP Economy / Performance Mode
4 = Will not start mode ( theft prevention)
You can do up to six custom programs, and they are all shift on the fly.
It was less then $400.00 and I installed it in under an hour.
I don't think I could be any happier. Even the wife likes the 80 HP mode, it is awesome!
Good Luck

DP tuner is the most popular for that engine- that said, I sell more Edge stuff than anyhting else- for all the engines.

MUCH Louder!
Actually at idle I can hear an instant difference just changing from stock to tow and then to performance mode.

Just turn that knob on the fly at any time to which ever program you want.

Jody at Dp tuner all the way. I started with "programmer". just not enough adjustability. The off the shelf tuners do what they say for the most part but they aren't made for your specific app. Get a DP Tuner chip its set exactly how you want it plus tuned to your mods and computer code. The programmers can't compensate for exhaust and an intake or any other mod you might have like propane or nitros.
