Default 98 Jeep ZJ Gas Gauge Problems

I've done a little bit of research on this problem I have with my Jeep, and it seems like the only fix to it is expensive. But I wanted to see if anyone here knew of an inexpensive fix. My problem is that whenever the tank is less than full of gas, my gauge will drop down to empty and the gas light comes on. Then it will kick back up to where it's supposed to be. This happens all the time during the summer, and every so often in the winter. The gas light dinging gets old after about 5 minutes. You can hear the gas sensor floating around in the tank. I think the only true fix is to replace the fuel pump or something. Anyone have any ideas?
