Default F350-d3500-gmc3500 Best Mpg

I do not know if its true, but I am told the Cummins diesel in the dodge dually 3500 gets far better fuel mileage that the ford f-350, is this true? If so what are the respective MPG for 2000-01 models of each.

heres what I got maybe this will help 2003 gmc 2wd crewcab dually allison duramax lowered with bed cover when it had the big programmer and 5" exhaust along with an intake kit I got 22mpgs hand calculated going to FL from Ok no trailer. my 2006 dodge 2500 4wd crewcab longbed cummins auto with the edge box netted me the best of 17mpg hand calculated granted the dodge has stock exhaust and intake just the box along with 8k miles where the gmc has 63k miles.

Our 2004 F350 6.0L PSD Dually Crew Cab 4x4 gets 13-15mpg empty and 9-10mpg towing a 38 Cigarette (8000 lbs).

We used a 2005 GMC Diesel Dually 4x4 last year and with the Cigarette behind us we got 7-8mpg

At what speed were you getting 22? I have a 2500 4x4 that over the life of the truck is getting 16mpg. Thats in town/highway combined. Highway driving is around 75mph.

I have an 06 F250 with SCT custom tune set on race, Turbo back into dual exhaust and Mac intake. My other truck was identicle, except it had Edge Platinum with Attitude module set at 5. We left south MS to Destin FL a 3 1/2 hour trip, drove 75-82mph. The SCT on the overhead which isnt exact got 18.9 and the Edge got 17.8. On the way home 1/2 the way my partner went to level 3 and I went to my middle tune which is xtreme street, I got 19.2 and he got 18.7. The other 1/2 we both went stock. I got 16.7 and he got 16.9. Not scientific but it apears the devises do help improve fuel economy as well as give you alot more power, the problem is being deciplined in keeping your right foot out of it. Jeff

jryan26 in the gmc we averaged 80-82mph in the dodge we run the same 80-82 with it all stock the doge would click off 15mpg at the same rate. the gmc when all stock would get about 15-17 these were on highway trips no local/highway. around town the gmc will click about a 17-18 and the dodge is around 13-14 I also figured that the dodge likes the higher speed for doing same trip and 70-75 we get less fuel mileage. Need for the dodge to break in to see what it will do when it cliks about 20k on the odo

Two '06s Both are showroom stock.
1 Ford, 1 GMC
GMC has the LLY (310, Not the 360 HP)

Same 14,000 lb load

GMC 10.0
Ford 8-8.5

GMC will read 17 mpgs on the dash on a strong 80+mph empty highway run.... Not trying to get MPGs...Just trying to get home.

I have not driven or pulled with a Cummins long enough to know how the Mopar is.

FYI- This Ford will be traded on a GMC/Chevy in another 10,000 miles...
