If you are in a extremely dusty environment, the factory filter Donaldson filters the best. Next best filtering would be the AFE 1 and 2 breathes a little better and easily taken out and cleaned. There are alot of open filter designs, I went with mac, its the only one witha 6" tube vs 4", and clean it about every 4 mos. JIM, Talk to BUCK, he will take care of you. Jeff

I put a K&N FIPK intake on my Jeep and have seen a noticeable improvement in gas mileage and it seems to have a little more power, mostly in the upper RPM's. For some reason, when you get on it, it sounds like a freakin V8 even though it's an I6. So I'd imagine an intake for a diesel would have the same effect but with bigger numbers in increase. It's time for me to match the intake up with an exhaust system now.

www.thedieselstop.com

DON'T get the K&N. Lots and lots of PSD problems with K&N. It does not filter well enough. I have a 2000 7.3 PSD. I went with the kit from www.trueflow.com . Its a new deal, that the foam flows much better than a paper or washable cotton element, and it filters much better.

Is there any chance the truck you speak of is a "Pro Trucks" built truck?
