wheels, tires, lift???
i'm in the planning process of changing the wheel and tire combo of a '98 Ram 1/2 ton 4x4. the combo i really like the look of is the 20" wheel with some nice off road tires (none of that lo-pro stuff). what would it take to put that set up on my truck? will i need to lift the truck? if so, how many inches? this will be my first lifted truck, so any pitfalls, do/do nots etc etc would be greatly appreciated.

i'll check the link you posted in as soon as i type this, but is it possible to not go that high? that seems like a huge lift. if i go with 35's, will a 4-6" lift do it?

i have a 99 f-250 xtra cab diesel with 305-50/20's nitto grabblers and had a slight rubbing issue when turning lock to lock. was just going to do a leveling kit which would have fixed my problem but for an xtra $800 did the full fabtec 5.5" kit...came with all the hardware NEW front leafs and front and rear shocks

Re: wheels, tires, lift???
i had a 96 dodge ram on 35's. they were swamper 35x15.50x15..with the 6 inch skyjacker lift they would rub some under a full turn. 35 with a 20 in wheel will look low profile. If you went to 35's you would need to change the gear ratio as not to lose any power. breaking in my truck wasn't bad...it stopped fine pulling. but it wasn't the same as stock and with a that much wheel and tire you will lose some stopping power. later did some custom lift and ran 38's...didn't pull much more than an airboat at the time, they don't weigh much. Now it is on 44's but thats another story
