all steel boat trailers finish
ok.i own a 2006 steel painted white trailer prior to that i owned eagle and myco.i like the painted trailers for looks and the aluminum for in and out of salt.being in the steel industry i took the myco that was red and rusting stripped it down to just the frame and sand blasted.after this process i had the trailer color galvanized which is they acid dip the frame dunk it in the galvanizing take then when still warm they grind the high spots and paint it.what this does is give that custom color to match the boat and after two years dunking it in the ocean no rust except the axels.why don't the high end manfactures use this product.the blasting cost i can't tell you i did it at my shop. but the colorgalv runs about 45 cents a # if my trailer weighs 3000# the cost is1350.00 dollars thats cheap for what you get.also if the paint does chip it won't rust all you do touch up the color.so again why would't these large manufactures use this process?
