Ive had 9 6.0 powerstrokes. The 03 was ok had a few problems but got sorted out. The rest have been great, and Im a GM man, and had 6 GM's at the same time. The 05's got the front suspension change to springs, turns better as well as a smoother ride. I cant comment on the 7.3, never had one. Jeff

I currently own 2 6.0 Excursions. Minor issues with each- nothing out of the ordinary. If they made an '07 Ex, I'd buy two to replace these.
DRW trucks ride rough empty. They also give you a substantial amount of added stability that you'll feel everytime you tow and NEED if something goes wrong. Lots of people will tell you a SRW (or even a smaller truck) will pull OK. It will get it moving just fine on a dry, level road. It's when things go wrong that you run out of truck real fast.
Everyone wants a daily driver that's comfortable, easy to maneuver/park and rides smoothly PLUS will pull a 15,000 lb boat. Been that way as long as folks have been buying 15,000 trailer boats. That truck does not exist.

I agree.....I just bought an 07 F350 6.0 PSD DUALLY that sits all week just to tow on the weekends. Thankfully I don't have to drive (AND PARK) that thing mon-fri!!!

Whatever you do don't go with a 6.0 motor, no matter what year they all are bad. Have personally owned 03, 04, 05, 06 they all suck, had 7.3 they were pretty good motors. we have 2 6.0 in the shop as i write this, getting injectors for the 10th time on one of them. It has had injectors put in twice in 3 weeks, didn't even make it 350 miles since last injectors. The guys in the service department said not to buy the 08's because they are already having problems.
Best truck I've owned to date. Dealer couldn't talk me out of trading it last year. Don't see myself getting rid of it for at least 2-3 more years either.
The internet is the worst thing that ever happened to Ford.

I towed my old F311 with a 1/2 ton Suburban at first. The day I picked the boat up in Orange Beach a woman pulled out in front of me. Got my attention! Bought my dually about a year later and WOW. It's not the acceleration that's so impressive it's the way the DRW handles the boat in turns and panic braking. I'll never have anything but a dually for towing these rigs.

We've bought, sold, and used a bunch of 04-06 6.0's. We never had any major headaches with any of them and resale seems to be better on the newer trucks too (especially King Ranch Edition)

I have an '05 6.0 F350, NO problems here!
Reliable and solid as the day I bought it. 37K miles so far! Usually I trade by now, but I really LIKE this truck and will likely keep it.
The early 6.0's got a bad rap, but the later ones are fine.

To say all 6.0's are bad is a stupid statement. I have over 80,000 miles on an 03 6.0 and not one problem. It has plenty of power and always gets over 17 mpg. I had a 7.3 and liked it also but the 6.0 is quicker and pulls better in my opinion. I would go with the 6.0 again.

jim,
just check the history of the vehicle if it is a 6.0, if it had any problems early on it might still have em,
my 03 6.0 has been great, had them reflash once just to make me feel better :
6.0 vs 7.3? my opinion is the 6.0 pulls better, runs better and has the better tranny for towing(torqueshift)
but as we all know it's all on what patty wants

I say get the dually. I just had my 42 Tiger behind my lowered GM on Saturday going to Toledo, it was 0 degrees and wind was ripping across the Ohio turnpike enough to make my hard tonneau cover start to lift up on one side The truck didn't wobble at all. i saw semis being whipped and thought I was in for one hell of a ride. I'll never tow without a dually again.
