Default Toyota Tundra

Does anyone have any exprience with this truck. I currently have an 05 F-150 with the 5.4 Triton. It's due to get turned in in a couple of months. It's the first pick up I've owned and I really like it but the new Toyota has caught my attention. I only tow about 5000# so I don't need a heavy duty truck like a super duty or 2500 GM. I would assume quality is first rate because it's a Toyota and the website lists an available 5.7 V-8with 380 HP and 400 ft. lbs. torque. I've never owned any vehicle if it wasn't made by one of the big 3 so I'm a little hesitant.
What do you guys think ?

Thanks, Dave

I don't think any OSO members own one yet.

Lots of info on this thread though:

I just stopped at my local Toyota dealer over the weekend and took at look at the new Tundra w/ the 5.7 - very impressed! I've owned about 30+ cars / trucks / SUV's, both domestic and import in my 23 years of driving, (currently own 2 Toyotas - 4Runner and Highlander) and I am seriously considering this truck as my next. I'll give it 6 mo. or so to get de-bugged a bit, but it's a sweet rig. And I didn't drive it yet as I didn't have the time but I'll get to it in the next couple weeks I hope.

I have the 05 model, over 60 000 on it and NOTHING has failed! Resale still looks great. The truck does what it auposed to do perfectly! The new design will impress.

Thanks for the replies. I'm thinking like you guys. I'm going to stop by the dealer and test drive one. My only other concern would be pricing. I think this truck will be so popular that deals will be hard to come by. Like I said in my earlier post, my Ford is a good truck and does everything I need and on top of that they almost give them away.
Thanks, Dave

Dave ~ From what I can tell, it looks like Toyota is taking a bit of an Acura pricing model on this truck. It seems like there are few options, mostly everything comes standard by model, SR5, Limited etc... including the towing package. You pick your engine, trim level and maybe the "Off-Road" package or one or two others and you're done.

get the Toyo dealer to give you a 36 month residual percentage # on the lease amount,,,,,, that'll tell ya if the value is there as well as future trade value... if it's 60% or more, it'll be a home run winner....

I would drive them all seems like your a pretty open minded. I would do some seat time in each. I know the GM's and the Toyota's are both new this year. I would also be interested to here an honest opinion, on how you rate them. Most buyers have already determined which the best is before even looking at them.

czy40p, when I get around to driving each of them I will post my opinions but it might be awhile.

marylandmark, that's what I'm thinking about cost, it will affect my decision making. As an example when I got the Ford the MSRP was about 34k the deal out the door was about 23k. I understand there is alot factored into this but again I've never dealt with an import buy.
