Towing safety Checklist
With all the talk about tow vehicles, safety, etc, I figured I would start a thread for it. Please add any things you may suggest
TOW VEHICLE
Proper tow vehicle
Proper load rated tires
Properly inflated tires
brakes in good working order
steering components in order
suspension, springs, shocks, etc in order
belts, hoses
electricals and lights in order
proper hitch, ball, rated for weight.
Headlights properly adjusted with trailer on hitch.
Trailer
frame in good shape. No cracks, bends, or broken welds.
Brakes working PROPERLY
Lights
Proper rated safety chains
Tongue weight 10-15% of total trailer weight
Axles and bearings in order and greased
Bunks, rollers, and bow stop in good shape and functioning
properly inflated tires
proper load rated tires
Any more suggestions?
