New Truck break-in question
Just picked up my brand new 2007 GMC Sierra Denali on Saturday and it is siiiiiiiiiiiiick!!! If you guys haven't seent this truck yet (most dealerships haven't received them just yet), I highly reccomend you go take a look. I had the dealer install the 20" 12spoke GMC chrome wheels and chrome step bars as well.
My question is: what do you guys think about the new vehicle engine break-in period? I have been babying it and plan to until I have 500 miles on the clock, but I have heard a lot of people say this isn't really necessary. Also, some guys say do the 1st oil change at 500 miles, others say wait until 3000. Any thoughts?

in a production assembled motor I feel there is always assembly trash casting flash/sand ect. ect left somewhere plus some initial bearing coating and assembly lube.

Got the truck for $500 over invoice plus GM $1k cash rebate applied to the down payment and 0% GMAC financing and an additional $500 credit from the dealer. Don't let them jerk you around on the price; it's a nice truck but any dealer can order one for you (not some hard to find, rare, etc). The dealer I worked with did everything over the phone and the first time we shook hands was the day I picked up the truck. Golden Hills Auto Center in Paso Robles, CA. Best car buying experience I have ever had
