I pull a 382 with an F-350 and weight distributing hitch. MUCH nicer ride, MUCH less bucking and MUCH safer. The 382 is #10,400 dry. Eagle triple axle steel trailer is #3000 on the nose. Add a little fuel and gear, you are easily in excess of #14,000.

Go with the WD set-up. You will not regret it. Agree a dually will be better and safer for towing this heavy.

RedDog,

No on Port Clinton. Thanks for the confirmation on the weight distribution hitch. Do you experience much sway when going down the highway and passing 18 wheelers?

Best thing ever ! I tow a 382 with a F-350 06 dually. The weight rating of the truck and hitch without a WD hitch is far exceeded by a 382. It may tow ok but an accident and a lawsuit will be ugly. I thought mine towed really well before I installed a Reese Tow Beast. It really changed the ride..much different with the WD hitch. I heard launching was a pain but I have not found a problem.

Minimal sway around semis, very predictable response to the draft. Otherwise sway is non-existent, even in higher wind conditions. Key is tongue weight set-up. Not sure how a F-250 SRW would be, though.

Here is the one I've used for the past 2 years with great results. It can be used with boat surge brakes. Also mine is for sale as I just bought a new truck.

Thanks, I see where it says it's o.k. with surge brakes, but looks like it would only work on a sqaure rail steele trailer, not an aluminum I-Beam. Mine seems to be pretty long in the tounge area before it Y-'s off to the I-Beams, looks like the bars won't run along side the frame rails or reach back that far... ???? How much are they new ?? what are you looking to get for yours ??

They make an adaptor that bolts to square tubing before the
I-Beams. Here is a photo of the bracket:

Boatman, is your setup sold?

And can I ask why your selling it?

Just saw above that you got a new truck.
