You can tilt a boat up to 12' wide. Over that and you have a problem with the hight after tilting. We took the outerlimits cat which is 12' by 50ft and loaded it on and it was 8'6 wide and 13.6 tall in the tilted posittion. Over 12 foot Tom and you have a hight problem. For the east coast you can only be 13.6 tall. If you live in Texas or west of that you can be 14' and be legal. email me about a trailer for your cat. with a 10 beam you can get away with smaller axels and torsion bar suspension. A little cheaper but these trailers are not cheap. Also this company makes the only trailer that after the boat is tilted, the boat and trailer is legal with no special permits. Other trailer companies have tried but they can't get it right

Mark, I towed the catz trailer from Randy to the factory for its mods. He wants to tow it with a 450 ford which I think is to small. This trailer without the boat is about 16000lbs and needs air for the suspension. I explained to him he either needs a small freightliner or small peterbilt llike the truck that pulled it.

The new 450 Ford is capable of pulling 24 ,500#. I could not believe when I was told that the trailer weighed #12,000. Now you are telling me that it weighs #16,000. WOW.
The Ford was only for local hauls. He has no intention on towing it far. He will higher out for long tows.

the other problem is that the trailer needs air for the suspension. The 450 does not have air built in for the truck. The trailer needs 100psi at all times. Also I would be carefull about stopping the trailer and boat with a 450 in an emergency situation.

The 450 will also have issues in cross wind conditions not being heavy enough to control the load if it sways.
