Call the guys at Gearvendors.com that is what i did and told them my situation and they where very helpful with what to do.

Is the 2008ford f450 enough truck to safely pull a 47 fountain?

yes...and the 4.30 gears vs the 4.88 are more than adequate

No I was to tight to spend the extra $$. I pull on a heritage standard trailer. About 15,500#'s boat and trailer. Pulls great and I never know it's there except every 2 1/2 hrs when I have to stop for fuel.

With a custom hitch under the bed can it pull 24000# legally?

I doubt that it would be legal in the eyes of the insurance company if there was ever a claim. As Ford motor company only rates it at 16K tag along, the 24K is for fifth wheel. Maybe I am just a worry wort, but I don' want to give the insurance company any possible reason to deny a large claim.
