pickuptruck.com picks duramax
in their 2007 PickupTruck.com Heavy Duty Shootout, Duramax Allison kicked azz, no surprise there, Ford and Dodge diesels did better tha expected though On the gas side, GM's 6.0 did much better than I expected, though I haven't driven an 07 version yet.

A well in depth comparision. Very surprising when towing 10500 pounds on the V-10 of the Ford vs the all the diesels comparision with a savings of 6500.00. The Ford is hampered by 1100-1400 pounds of extra weight, but in the work environment...heavier suspension parts, towing capacity, the way truck actually drives and feels in the real world hauling and turning a load vs towing down a straight line on the track, the Ford is better than my GMC that I have. The GM has an awesome tranny, especially the 6-speed vs the competitions 5. Also what I ve noticed when driving is the GM will be smoother and more comfortable unloaded 07 to 07, especially with its way smaller tires and lower center to gravity, but the 08 Fords seats seem to be better than my 07's. Step in height is also easier than the other two. Dodge I cant really comment, dont have enough experience, sold that last year and it was an earlier version. Thanks for the article Wobble. Jeff
