Any one work at a Ford/Mercury dealer?
I am looking for a Hybrid Escape or Merc. Mariner. They are more or less sold out at every dealer around me. Loaded with all options except the GPS. I can live with out that.

Not sure how accurate his inventory is but it shows that he does not have them
Jeff if GM made a hybrid that was in the same class then I would certainly look at them. Unfortunately they do not.

Joe thanks for the info. I just found a used 2008 with short milage on it. Every option available for a good price I feel. Amazing that these are so hard to find! Unfortunately it makes the "art of the deal" kind of hard when they know if I walk there is a line of people right behind me. This one was sold to a guy but his financing fell short. They had 3 other customers come in to the dealership while I was there looking for them. I hope it is a good car for me I swore up and down I would never buy another Ford when I had all the problems with the truck. For 4 wheel drive with some good room they have the market cornered! I am just trying to save some money on gas. This 250-300 a week on fuel is a killer now!!

I'm a mercury dealer. Ive sold 5 of the hybrid Mariners. They were all retail orders that took about 6 months to get in. I've had some good reports from the customers that bought them. They are very happy. Lots of luck, and a great find! Don't sweat the ford thing, the quality of the new mariner and escapes are really good.

My neighbor had a Lexus RX 330 Hybrid and she traded it in less than 6 months. The expected economy was just not there. The EPA guesstimates expect you to drive 55 on the highway and not use air conditioning in order to get the numbers they post on the windw sticker.
Most people forget that the most expensive part of owning a vehicle is the depreciation not the fuel. 50K vehicle that drops to 20K in 5 years most likely won't burn 30K in gasoline. With the higher cost of fuel nowadays some people can break this equation if they drive 500 miles a week +++ but the depreciation will be more significant in that case also.
My mom like to argue she needs a hybrid despite driving about 9k miles a year! I told her when she drives 3X that many miles it will pay for her to switch.
