It looked like it was made that way and didn't detract from the appearance. It actually enhanced it. It took about 1 minute to connect the sway bars and made it tow much better. Unless you see it specifically printed in the specs -- conventional towing without weight distributing hitch -- don't trust it.
Any chance you have a picture of how you set that up? If this WD is true for the Ford as well I am very interested to read their small print. If Ford states 15K with a WD, what is their max without a WD? Since I have it in writing from both Ford and GM now, I am going with a Ford. If a 450 can do it without a WD, that would be my choice. If there is no difference between a 350 and a 450, my choice will be a 350. The rating on my trailer is 15K and the max it will ever weigh is 14K, full of fuel, water, gear and ice. What do you think?

i looked at an f45o again on sun . the hitch clearly states 8k max non wt dist. I spoke with the ford truck mgr today he says that the wt dist is for someone with a bulldozer in the front of trailer that may cause a very high tongue weight. He says that for a well balanced boat trailer you go by the gcwr minus the truck weight ( for a 08 gmc this would be 15900 lbs . ) This is from a guy who has run the truck dept for 20 + yrs . ??????

I will try to take a picture tonight. My 450 tows great with a big, heavy boat and trailer. One advantage of the 450 for daily driving is the turning radius because of a commercial front axle. I think it is an option on the 350.

I also had a gooseneck extension made to have the choice of towing conventional or gooseneck (also to be legal with the 450)

The 8K is the hitch rating, which can be changed out to a stronger one. I am going to check ALL the small print in that Ford supplement, once I get my hands on it.
