If I don't space I will post the supplement page tomorrow. In the meantime an F-450 parks next to me occasionally and the only difference that is not so obvious is that I have 3.73 gears and 8 - 17 MPG (towing, town & highway) I don't know what he has but I don't think 450's come with less than 4.30's, so I am guessing the MPG is less. Another point I saw in a "Popular Mechanics" comparo was that the Fords weigh 1000# more than the GM products. Yes, Fords have greater towing capacity ( and I love my F-350) but it doesn't come free. My F-350 tows my 382 like its not even there, but without the WD hitch I know I am not in compliance with Ford's specs

small P.S.

Ford only says "Conventional" vs "5th Wheel" hitch. You don't find out about WD until you ask what "properly equipped" means or buy the truck and read the supplement. Which brings you back to the 2 1/2" receiver which may make it expensive if not impossible to find a WD with a 3" lift. Having said too much already, I feel perfectly safe dragging my boat without WD. When I upgrade to Elect over hyd it will be even better.

IMO the biggest difference between the 03 1/2 - 07 & the 08 is the motor. The warranty problems with the 6.0L diesel are legendary! Law suits between Ford & Navistar were front page news in the Wall Street Journal. I am hopeful that Ford & Navistar are so worried over reliability issues that I will not have any issues (I hope)

I love my 2004 GMC with the LLY, it has about 90,000 miles on her so far she has been trouble free. I tow many customers boats with her and my 41 APACHE. IT's a crew cab dually 4X4. My buddy has the new duramax in his crew cab and it doesn't get near the mileage his 2001 duramax did, but it does have a lot more power.
