I also have an 05 Ford F250 6.0 PSD w/ 140k. Just put the first set of brakes on it last week, the tech said it was a record for him. Fuel, oil, filters, tires at 80k and now brakes at 140k. Other than a speed sensor issue early in it's life, that is it. The Dodge has been a nightmare the Ford has been a dream.

My '01 ram 3500 dually has 110k on it. Just put a new tranny in it. tranny is a common issue with these truck. Problem is its a gasser TQ converter they use in the earlier models. it cant handle the diesels torque. The newer models have a heavy duty converter. Other than that I have had no issues with it. Some have had fuel pump issues, but that is mainly due to the $hitty LSD fuel we have now.
I have always been a Ford truck guy. But I wouldnt trade my Dodge for anything.

In all honesty, pretty much everything in the drivetrain except the engine has been rebuilt or replaced, some things several times; transmission, brakes, u-joints, air conditioning, axles, rust, steering box, lift pump and on and on. Complete POS!. The truck does well on fuel, beyond that it has been a huge lemon.

A 3500 Dodge SRW quad cab with 4wd and a Cummins will pull 16k all day long , look at the specs it will actually pull more than a dually and has over a 23k GCWR. I did not believe it until I read it and drove my buddies new Dodge. Guess I need to trade the old Ford in!

2003 Dodge 2500 Cummins pulls the hell out of our heavy resin bucket. 38 Cigarette, blown 572ci, No. 6 drives, sitting on a steel Myco.
15-16,000 pounds 73mph on cruise control at 12mpg. It will run at 85mph with that load if you so desire.

The point Kims was making is that the ratings for towing on a hitch setup non wt distributing vs a 5th wheel are significantly lower than what most people think .. in the event of an accident, liability could result from an overweight situation

There is no doubt the cummins diesel over the 8.1 chevy gas any day of the week you want to compare them as far as torque/power goes. You also have the ability to mod that diesel and get even more HP and torque out of it, 100 more HP is easy.......try getting that out of the 8.1 gasser with add-ons, other than forced induction. Now, the sad factor is that diesel fuel is over $4 a gallon!
