I have my '96 for sale and have been asked a question that I'm not sure that i can answer. Mine has the 460 engine instead of the PS diesel.
A guy has asked me if the "gas engine can pull as much weight as the 7.3L diesel?"
Thoughts on an answer for this guy?
Thanks

That big block should be about the same as the 7.3 worse miliage but about the same rating...though all i found was for a 95 with a gas motor around 12000 GVCW. i would bet that is about the same as the diesel. If the sticker on the door says that weight, that 460 will pull it, not to far from a gas pump but those were strong engines..

The big block gas engines during those years always had a higher rating than the diesels did. The way they rated tow capacities was using CID and HP, 6.9/7.3 had torque not HP. The 6.9/7.3 still towed nice. It is not all about getting it moving either, you have to be able to stop.
