Any GM experts on onboard?
My work transportation:
96 Grand Am 2.4 overhead cam.
Has a no intermittent no-start condition. No fire at all when this happens-
I can tell if it's not going to start by this: If the daytime running lights are on when I turn the ignition key to the run positon, the car will not start. If the running lights are NOT on when turning the ignition to run position it fires RIGHT up!
About the only thing that has not been replaced is the ECM on this car, and very recently I put in new crank sensor, iginition tower and all the other bells and whistles.
I'm leaning towards replacing the ECM but wanted to see if any of the Mechicanics on onboard have run across this before I see how to go about this.

To many wierd things going on to be the ignition switch, not only the light deal happens but the check engine light will blink wildy off and on in a very sparodic way. Seems like the computer looses it's settings or something.
Can a guy buy a ECM like this off e-bay and not really have to take it to a GM dealer for programing?

Thanks in advance for anymore suggestions!

there is a deal with the key on some gm models ,they lose there program or the resistence changes, and fails the security by pass to start the car. Some times when if you have to replace a battery ,this will happen, and you will need a reprogramm.
I also heard that you could do some thing with the key ,like turn it on and off 5 times real quick ,then crank it ,and it will reprogram the key ,or lock cylinder. wish I had more specific info .

Ignition switch.
Daytime running lights have no shared circuit with start circuit. Also, there is a recall to install a starter relay in the ignition start harness. The solenoid would draw too much amprage and melt the ignition switch. I bet the recal hasnt been performed. Give me the VIN and I can tell you. If the recall hasnt been performed, this could possibly be covered by the recall.
