Default 2011 Diesel and Gas specs for the big 3

http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2010/03...v8-diesel.html

Gm sandbagged...good call on their part..both gm and dodge are still 5 and 700 pounds lighter as well. That means they beefed up their under sides for better towing vs last years trucks..which were 8-900 pounds lighter.... towing still goes to ford. power is produced at a lower rpms..very good info..also check out the gas motors..great alternative for towing..This is good for all of us.

I have seen far more GM 3/4 ton trucks with gas motors than Ford or Ram. The guy living next door to me has one.

The problem with gas motors towing the loads boaters tow is 1) they can't match the diesel torque anywhere close and 2) their torque peak comes much higher in the rpm band than the diesel. Fine for a bass boat but not for offshore boats...

My V-10 tows just fine.I had a F-250 with a 7.3 before this truck it did a fine job as well. For a daily driver I prefer the V-10 hands down.

Actually the first power figure I saw for the Scorpion was 420/750. Looks like Ford didn't quite get there...

I did also..or something around that... Im wondering if what we read is true. I had a diesel on order and it was suppose to be here 2 weeks ago...they haulted production..now wont be here for 2 more weeks and it was right at the same time of the unveiling of GM's HP/TQ ratings.. It looks like they backed it down a bit..who knows...I pick up my F150 FX4 this morning..and will wait now till the 2011 model year to get another diesel...

So will you take delivery of that diesel? Is it the 2011 Scorpion?

Yes it was the 2011 Scorpion...Henderson Ford has 6 now 7 coming...I just didnt want to wait and now that I dont have a 18k boat to haul around..Ill save fuel, its easier to drive cause its not a dually, and for 900.00 more I traded my 08 F350 DRW Lariat with cover for this Candy Red 2010 F150 FX-4 listed at 43k...These guys take care of me every time..but I do buy 2 trucks or vehicles a year from them ..and send them as many people as possible..Service is good also...I really like it.

When are taking delivery of your new boat? Do you have a truck that will tow it? I don't think that F150 will do it.

BTW Jeff please correct the spelling of your town. It's driving me crazy lol.

GM does sell a decent amount of gas motor 3/4's. They are decent trucks and for the guy that tows smaller boats/loads they are fine. With a diesel motor being a 7K option these days and the higher cost of fuel with marginal fuel economy the diesel isn't the deal it used to be. However the resale will be harder on a 3/4 gas motor.

GM really ups their numbers for 2011 model year. Re-done frame/suspension and very aggressive tow/haul capacities.
