Default So I have traded my truck

On a 2006 Chrysler 300C Hemi. I didn't need the truck any more and just got tired of being beat to death every day driving it. The 300 has all the bells and whistles except for nav and a backup cam, both of which I can add later. It's a great car, very powerful, but I can almost see the gas gauge needle dropping. Lucky I don't drive very far any more, just to the health club and grocery store...

(Oh and I got a helluva deal, dropped my vehicle payments by 50%! )

The gas tanks in these cars are too small only holding about 17 gallons!!! Which Hemi (is it the SRT?)? The 5.7 cuts cylinders to get mid 20's. The 6.1 has even more power but doesn't cut cylinders and gets 20 if you reset it at 65 and leave it on cruise control.....I have a 2008 Charger SRT (6.1) with a programmer and intake and made 400rwhp. Ran a 12.9 with 1,700 miles and 30 day tags still on the car!!!! Pretty good for a big 4 door with nav/dvd player, heated seats, and 13 speaker sound system.

My manual says 19 gal. It's the 5.7. The salesman told me it was the multi-displacement motor that drops cylinders but I'm very disappointed in the mileage so far. 60,000 miles on it so it should be broken in by now eh?

Yeah that 6.1 is a monster and yours sounds even more so. Do you run race gas or 93? Mine is 340hp at the crank so maybe 300 on the dyno?

I love the 'cool vanilla' paint and matching leather interior, really looks sharp! I was tired of Bright White on my vehicles... My wife just traded her POS Hyundai Azera for a 2010 Town&Country today at the same dealer. Now we're an All-American car family!

I don't post much here anyways. There are very few "Dodge Boyz" on this site. But if there's something I want to reply to I will.

You don't mind do you?

The 300 is a sweet ride. I am kinda hoping I can talk my wife into getting one for her next car.

I also had a SRT8 Charger with all the bells and whistles, but it was completely a toy and I needed a new truck so I traded it in.

One of my employees has the EXACT same car but dark blue. He claims 25-26 mpg driving highway miles commuting to work...he too loves the power but wants to drive MY car.

I was told these cars have an 18% drivetrain loss. I run 93 and it's my daily driver. (the dually is 4 years old and only has 12,000 miles). These numbers were pulled in the first 20 days with under 1,500 miles on the car, dyno showed a hair over 400hp and 400 tq at the rear wheels with 20's....18% loss puts the hp and tq around 490 at the crank!!!! The car weighed 4,435 with me in it and pulled 13.1's to 12.9's at 110mph back then. I really need to go back and see what it can do 2 years and 30,000 miles later. Besides, I have better tires on it now too.

Do you have 20's? If so look into Vredstein tires......they are perfectly suited for these heavy cars.

Well I need to get it out on the road and run it on the four cylinder mode to see what that will get. In town here, running the a/c, it's probly 10-12. If he's getting 25-26 that gives me hope for mine.

No I have 18" wheels and Goodyear 225/60R18 tires. I just looked at Vredestein but the reviewer for the 18" tire said his would go maybe 25,000 miles. That sucks.

My ultimate goal is getting the Jetta TDI. I was working with Autobahn in Ft. Worth but they did NOT want my truck because they offered me rock bottom trade in price for it. So I went to a Dodge dealer thinking they would give me more and they did. Now when the 2011 TDIs come out I'll go back and see what I can get for the 300. If they try to screw me on that I'll just put it on Ebay and/or Craigs List and sell it that way.

This car is butter smooth and quiet. If I can figure out how to get over 20mpg on the hwy I might just keep it. I've gotten three compliments on it already at the gas stations. The HemiC badge commands respect even with the young adults.

10-12.....is something wrong with the car? I'm the type that if the road is clear when I leave the light I'll mash it and catch 2nd (yes, this car will squeal 2nd gear even though it's an automatic). Even driving like that I'm showing 17+ mpg on the on-board computer......cruise set on 65 and it shows 20-22. Since I usually run 80 I don't see 22 very often!!!!

The SRT's come with Goodyear F1 Supercars.......most people get 10K-15K miles max. I got 12-13K. My Vredsteins have 20K on them and I doubt I'll get 10K more but they stick to the road like you wouldn't believe. I've taken cloverleaf ramps where I didn't drop below 65 and no tire squeal.

I don't know if anything is wrong with it. I've only had it three days. I took it to my mechanic before I signed the papers and he gave it a clean bill of health. I just filled up with 89 so maybe that will help. I'll calculate this tank on the next fillup and see where the mileage is.

I do more in town driving than highway so I know it's going to be in the 'teens.
